Five Minutes with Mercé Roig, Podiatrist
Where were you born and raised?
I was born and raised in Alginet, a little village near Valencia in Spain.
Where did you start your career in Podiatry?
I studied Podiatry at the University of Valencia and I did a one-year postgraduate degree in biomechanical assessment at the University Miguel Hernández in Alicante, Spain. I also did the nourishing Erasmus project in Brussels for 10 months.
I have been working as a Podiatrist for 3 years now. As a healthcare professional, I aim to provide the best possible treatment to my patients.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I really enjoy swimming, walking by the beach, travelling, playing the guitar, listening to music, eating in new places, spending time with animals and learning new languages. I have many hobbies!
When should a patient consider visiting a Podiatrist?
Sometimes, patients will delay booking a podiatry appointment until they are experiencing a lot of discomfort and pain. This can often cause further damage. Even if patients have slight pain or minor concerns, I encourage them to see me for a routine check.
